This month we’ll be doing things a little differently. We’ve partnered with the 20s & 30s Going Out Group as their designated charity for September, which means we’ll see a whole lot of new faces AND receive 80% of the money raised at the event.
On top of the usual drink specials and some extra giveaways, we’ll be treated to DJ Saam’s loungy, groovy beats. We’ll also be mingling with a diverse crowd from the DC area, so be prepared to chat about why you love One Brick!
If you want to take a more active role than just mingling, Chrissy A is looking for some event managers and coordinators to sign up for short shifts staffing the entrance table. These folks will help greet people, collect donations, and, of course, promote One Brick! If you’re interested, please email Chrissy A as soon as possible.

Thank you all for joining our Happy Hour at Public last night!!!
Last night’s Happy Hour was extra challenging because everyone’s charge was added to one check. We had close to 30 people last night, and having all of these charges on one check was an insane Public policy. Too many things could have gone wrong…
At the end of our Happy Hour, we found out that nothing had gone wrong. Magically, the total balance was $0. Which means… This proves that One Brick volunteers are the best volunteers!!! Thank you for taking care of your bills!!!
If the total balance were other than $0, what would have happened?
Somehow I would have to earn quick bucks… As SarahZ suggested, I would have jumped on a pole and started a pole dancing, and then, swung myself over to one of the tables and started a table dancing. Once the dances were finished, I would have cartwheeled myself to the kitchen and clean the dirty dishes. I am so happy that I did not have to go through these!

Happy hour specials include: $4 Martinis, $1 off domestic bottles and rail drinks… and cheap wings!
Look for our reserved tables upstairs.
Hard Times’ trivia night starts at 8 PM in the upstairs bar area, so stick around and join us for some trivia too!
There is a $5 charge to get in – 100% of which will go toward One Brick’s operating costs! We’ll also be giving away reusable One Brick grocery bags with your $5 charge to get in this month!

One Brick volunteers at Public Bar, May 19th
One Brick DC’s latest Happy Hour was at Public Bar on May 19th! Public Bar is a modern sports bar near Dupont Circle, and a great group of volunteers met to catch up and enjoy $3 beers. We were delighted to welcome a volunteer from our San Francisco chapter, who was in DC to help his brother move into a new home. One Brick is a national organization, with chapters in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Minneapolis, Seattle and Orlando! Next time you’re visiting one of these cities, why not stop by and join in a Happy Hour or volunteer event with the local One Brickers?
Our next Happy Hour in DC will be the third Wednesday in June.

Come join One Brick Event Managers and fellow volunteers for a special happy hour at Vinoteca, a wine bar and bistro in the U Street Neighborhood! If you’ve never volunteered with us, come along, too!
A $10 donation to One Brick will get you a free drink ticket and happy hour specials for wine and food until 9 PM! All proceeds go to One Brick’s operating costs.
Along with your glass of wine, Vinoteca’s Happy Hour food specials include:
